Portsmouth High School’s New Head Girl steps into her sister’s shoes four years on
Portsmouth High School were delighted to announce the appointment of the Head Girl team 2015-2016.
Anna Mackay, 17, becomes Head Girl four years after her sister, Claire, held the same role in 2011-2012.
‘I am excited and delighted to be in this role and following in the footsteps of my sister,’ said Anna. ‘Inevitably there will be some friendly competition as we compare notes of what we achieve over the next twelve months,’ said Anna.
‘I am a keen sportswoman and sailor so I plan to bring to the role leadership and teamwork qualities. The Head Girl team and Sixth Form are very strong and we all hope to be excellent role models for the younger girls and have fun along the way.’
Anna will be supported by Daisy Turnbull, 16, Blythe Scoates, 16 and Lara Bird, 16. All the girls bring a mixture of qualities to their roles including a keen sense of responsibility, vision and altruism.
Headmistress, Mrs Jane Prescott, added:
‘Choosing the right girls to lead the school is an important task every year. Hustings and voting is taken very seriously and the whole school takes part. The Head Girl team and Senior Prefects play a vital role in school life and are all well respected by the younger girls who aspire to be a part of that group as they come up through the school and join the Sixth Form.’
