Welcome to Portsmouth High School Junior Department’s section of the School website. We are a thriving, close-knit community found in the heart of Southsea on a separate site, but very close to our Senior School.

Our location enables the girls to access the variety of educational experiences that Portsmouth and the surrounding area offers. Within the school gates you’ll find a large outdoor space incorporating gardens, tennis and netball courts, lawns and adventure play areas as well as discovery areas for science.

Through our innovative curriculum, built upon the foundation of the National Curriculum and informed by traditional values, the girls are encouraged and supported to develop into capable and confident young women best placed to take advantage of the opportunities life will bring. Many of our former pupils return to the Junior School to share their experiences of success with the younger girls.We recognise that the most effective learners are those who are happy and feel secure in their environment and this is supported through our strong emphasis on pastoral care.

Parents are an important part of the learning partnership and both current and prospective parents are welcome to visit the school at any time to see our ethos in practice.
