It is not just pupils at Portsmouth High School who will have the opportunity to work with Brian, their parents, brothers and sisters, grans and granddads  will also be able to join is as Brian will be running a family workshop after school. The girls and their families will have an opportunity to see Brian perform and then will be encouraged to write their own poem about a happy family memory.

Helen Parrott, who has organised Poetry Week said; “Brian is such a lively and energetic character and has the ability to inspire through his performances. I know the girls are going to absolutely love working with him and I’m looking forward to reading their poems at the end of the session. I think the parents are going to really enjoy the session too, as a School we have lots of events for the whole family to get involved, be it taking part in fun runs or family bike rides, so it is great to add poetry to that list! ”

Also during poetry week girls will have the opportunity to explore more poems by Brian as well as poems on an animal theme.  They also have been practising hard for a poetry recital competition which will be taking place at the end of the week and will be judged by Rosemary Comrie, Head of Drama at the Senior School.
