Sixth Form students at Portsmouth High School are developing their leadership and organisational skills whilst also raising money for local family run charity The Tom Prince Cancer Trust.
Charity Week is an annual event at the Southsea Independent School and this year the Head Girl team hope to beat the amounts raised in previous years with some creative events including; a whole school dressing up day on Monday 1st December, a pupil and teacher talent show and a girls vs. boys netball match. The events throughout the week are designed so that the whole school can get involved, have some fun but also work towards raining money for a worthwhile cause, with the highlight being the two-night Fashion Show on Thursday and Friday.
This exciting event gives the creative Sixth Formers the opportunity to exercise their many talents, be it choreographing dances; negotiating with high street retailers and boutique stores, selling tickets, arranging sound and lighting or designing their own quirky lines to wow the audiences. It is also the Sixth Formers (and some willing teachers!) who take to the catwalk to model an array of fashions.
Jan Cresswell, Assistant Head (Sixth Form) said; “I am delighted with the way the girls are really pulling together to ensure the success of a very full programme of events. The Head Girl Team has shown tremendous leadership skills and they are really in control of all that is going on. Many of our girls are juggling studying for 4 or even 5 A Levels, attending university interviews, fulfilling extra curricular commitments and still managing to take a key role in the organisation of charity week.” |
