Year 5 pupils are still buzzing after their recent trip to the David Beckham Football Academy in London. The trip was a competition prize won by fellow pupil Daisy Turnbull.

Although they did not meet the man himself, whilst there the girls were taught a variety of new skills by a team that included an England Women's International player.

They returned to school even keener to develop their skills in a sport that is gaining in popularity for girls. Football has really taken off at the Junior School with two very popular after school clubs and two lunchtime sessions for the girls.

Since their trip to the Beckham Academy, and after further training from Pompey in the Community and Portsmouth Cluster Girls' Football Organisation, the pupils have taken part with great success in the first round of matches in the Portsmouth Girls Football League, ending with a 4-0 victory.
