During this morning's assembly the Head Girl Team handed over a cheque for £3431.84 to Chief Executive of Second Chance, Doug Hulme. The amount was raised through last terms Charity Week.

Charity Week has become an annual event at the school and  generous pupils, parents and staff supported the series of lunchtime and after school fundraising activities to raise such a large sum.

All of the activities were organised by the Sixth Form and co-ordinated by the Head Girl Team and included a pupil Talent Show, a Quiz, Teachers Talent Show and a boys Vs girls netball match. The highlight of the week however was the two-night Fashion Show, which saw pupils modelling clothes from a range of stores as well as some daring fashions created by A Level Art students.

The Head Girl team decided that the proceeds from Charity Week should go to Second Chance a Portsmouth based charity which works on a national scale on innovative projects which help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who have suffered abuse, poverty or who have learning difficulties.

Head Girl Alex Lamacraft said
“Charity Week always creates such a great atmosphere; everyone throws themselves into the activities and really pull together to make the week a success. To be involved and organise a week of activities for the other pupils is such a great experience and to raise so much money for Second Chance brilliant, handing over the cheque today made all the hardwork involved worthwhile”.
