Roger Stevens a performance poet, author, musician and artist paid a visit to Dovercourt last week to kick start Poetry Week and the Annual Poetry Competition.

He shared poems with all of the girls, from Nursery up to Year 6 and he led poetry writing workshops with all the girls from Year 2 upwards.

 
Helen Parrot,  who organised the visit said;  “The girls were amused, inspired and excited by the day and some marvellous poetry was written as a result”

Poetry week was ended by a competition judged by Lauren Farnhill from the Senior School and prizes included the Poerty cup and some books and cds signed by Roger.

The winners were; KS1 Winner: Eleanor Cousins, Lower KS2 Winner: Eleanor Edge, Upper KS2 Winner:  Charlotte Randall, Poetry Cup (Overall Winner):  Victoria Thurlby. Well done girls!
