The amazing amount was raised through last terms Charity Week.

Charity Week has become an annual event at the School and generous pupils, parents and staff supported the series of lunchtime and after school fundraising activities to raise such a large sum.

All of the activities were organised by the Sixth Form and co-ordinated by the Head Girl Team and included the ever popular teacher and pupil Talent Show’s, the first ever dressing up day, where girls were encouraged to swap school uniform for fancy dress and a boys Vs girls netball match.

The highlight of the week as ever was the two-night Fashion Show, which saw pupils modelling clothes from a range of stores as well as some daring fashions created by A Level Art students.

The Head Girl team decided that the proceeds from Charity Week should go to The Tom Prince Cancer Trust, a charity set up in memory of Tom Prince, which raises money for research into the teenage bone cancer Osteosarcoma and also aims to provide support for teenagers currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

Head Girl, Alex Jackson, said “Charity Week always creates such a great atmosphere; everyone throws themselves into the activities and really pull together to make the event a success. To be involved and organise a week of activities for the other pupils is such a great experience as a team we have learnt an awful lot about our leadership skills and our strengths and weaknesses.  To raise so much money for The Tom Prince Cancer Trust is brilliant, handing over the cheque today made all the hard work involved worthwhile”.

Jan Cresswell, Assistant Head (Sixth Form) said; “The Head Girl Team showed tremendous leadership skills and were really in control of all the activities  Many of our girls were juggling studying for 4 or even 5 A Levels, attending university interviews, fulfilling extra curricular commitments and still managing to take a key role in the organisation of charity week. To raise over £5,000 is absolutely amazing and the most that has ever been raised during charity week.”
