The Headmistress and staff of Portsmouth High School are delighted to be able to welcome Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer to the School on Thursday 27 November to deliver a talk entitled
The Make-Up for Successful Girls; encouraging confidence and self belief
Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer is a child development specialist, consultant and freelance journalist with a special interest in gender, self-esteem, how children learn and their emotional health and well-being. She has written eight books for parents on different aspects of bringing up children published in many different languages worldwide, including the best selling Self-esteem for Girls. Her latest, Making Sense of Your Child’s Friendships, is to be published next February. She has a regular column in Parent and Child, an American educational magazine, and has written for all the major national newspapers.
Elizabeth began her career in social policy, spending 15 years working at the heart of British politics, including three years in Number 10 Downing Street as Social and Education Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister. She is active in a number of educational and children’s organisations and contributes to seminars, advisory committees and conferences. For the last two years she has been an advisory member of the National Review of Primary Education, due to report early next year.
