wallace_bigger                    Charity minded Year 6 pupils Victoria Thurlby, Amelia Shaw and Eleanor Wheeler organised a successful Wrong Trousers Day for the Portsmouth High School Junior Department on Friday 27 June.

The event which encouraged participants to wear the wrong trousers or a mismatch outfit to school raised £161.35 for charity and was part of a national campaign by the Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation which raises funds to help improve the quality of life of sick children in hospitals and hospices across the UK.

The three pupils were keen to organise the event after Victoria read about the foundation in a magazine. She approached her school friends to assist her and then the three discussed their ideas with Mrs Hadfield; Head of the Junior Department.

As well as wearing their wrong trousers the three organised a series of activities for their fellow pupils including  3-legged race, a fashion parade, talent show and a class quiz all about the Wallace and Gromit films.

Mrs Hadfield said; “The girls worked really hard to put the day together, the spoke in assembly about the event and put a lot of thought into how the day would be planned, ensuring that all their fellow pupils would enjoy the activities. It was a very successful event”
