Pupils from Year 8 and Year 9 worked together in teams on an enterprise challenge day organised by the University of Portsmouth. In groups pupils had to come up with an idea for a new board game. The girls had to purchase materials to construct it and devise a marketing programme to sell it to the public. They then had to present their ideas to a panel of judges.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement which encourages innovation, imagination and creativity. The focus during Women’s Enterprise Day was about encouraging women to unleash their talents and make their ideas happen.

Kitty Price, Head of Year 8 and 9 said; “This was an ideal opportunity for the students to develop a range of skills and competencies in a fun and interactive way. The day focussed on teamwork, communication, creative thinking and problem solving. These are all skills we are keen to develop amongst our pupils as we are committed to preparing our girls to be the leaders of tomorrow.”

Charlotte James said; “It was really good to work with girls from the year below, we all learnt a lot about how we worked together as a team and what our strengths and weaknesses were. I was thrilled that the team I was working with received the prize for best Teamwork.”

Whilst Eleanor Castle said; “Our team won the prize for the best team presentation. I really enjoyed the day, it was different and it was good to be able to spend an amount of time on something and see the project through from beginning to end”.
