Sixth Form Case Studies

Abi, Lower Sixth

A levels – History, French, Religion and Philosophy, Mandarin (AS)

I’ve been at Portsmouth High School since Reception Class and can honestly say I have never wanted to be anywhere else.

I particularly enjoy being in the Sixth Form because of the freedom and independence we are given. It’s such a great step up from GCSEs that prepares us well for university, and small class sizes provide a supportive work environment and enable us to develop our opinions in an academic atmosphere. I especially enjoy the debates we have about ethical topics in Religious Studies.

I’ve always enjoyed languages and essay writing, hence my chosen A-level subjects, but I also love music and have been able to continue this in the Sixth Form as a music scholar and a member of the orchestra, choir and Cantabile. The recently renovated Sixth Form centre is such a great place to work and relax in, and the fact that everyone is so genuinely encouraging of each other makes the Sixth Form have such a family feel.
