There is a chance for everyone to shine in our Sixth Form. We really value our Sixth Formers as the senior members of the school and leadership opportunities open up right from the start. Whether it is running Year 7 and 8 Drama club at lunchtime or helping junior pupils in Dovercourt aftercare or taking on the responsibility of Form Prefect, School Prefect or House Captain, the Sixth Form are very much at the heart of the school community.

The Sixth Form is about shaping futures and preparing students for whatever they choose to do next. The Sixth Form Tutors are there to act as a sounding board for ideas, offer advice about university and career plans, assist in producing personal statements and offer regular subject health checks.

Throughout the Sixth Form there is strong emphasis on practical careers advice and the university application process. In addition to the school's own careers programme, which offers a wide variety of events designed to support students in their choice of course, university and gap year experience, all Sixth Form students automatically become a member of the Minerva network (The GDST alumnae and support group). The network provides opportunities to attend excellent professional workshops on subjects such as Management and Leadership and Communication as well as networking opportunities with those who have attended other GDST schools.
