Sports Scholars

Sports Scholars talk about their enjoyment of sport in the Sixth Form and their future aspirations...

Sports Scholarships are awarded on merit to girls entering the Sixth Form at Portsmouth High School.

Candidates are expected to show excellent skills in a range of sporting activities and an ability to work as part of a team. They will be expected to demonstrate leadership skills and an ability to motivate others together with a real passion and commitment to sport.

 

Tilly - Sport Scholar


What competitive sports have you been involved in?

Netball, rounders, tennis.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

The opportunity it has given me to make a difference in the sports department.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I want to help with netball and also netball tournaments for lower years in the school. I intend to carry on with sport at university at a high level.

Jade - Sport Scholar


What competitive sports have you been involved in?

Netball and rounders.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

Being able to play competitively with people at the same level as me or better.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I want to continue to play netball at a high level and play with younger students at Tuesday after school sessions. I also want to play badminton with the school team and with younger pupils

What competitive sports have you been involved in?

Netball, tennis, rounders and athletics.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

The opportunity to coach and give advice to younger players and share my passion for sport. I have enjoyed being involved in all the teams and sharing the PHS spirit.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I hope to carry on helping with clubs and training sessions. I intend to continue playing competitive sport at university and beyond.

What competitive sports have you been involved in?

Netball and athletics.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

I have enjoyed being a role model to younger years and improving netball technique and building relationships with the younger year groups.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I want to help with netball and also netball tournaments for lower years in the school. I intend to carry on with sport at university at a high level.

What competitive sports have you been involved in?

Netball, hockey, rounders, athletics and trampolining.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

The opportunity to coach different age groups and engage in school sport at the highest level. It has been a pleasure to see the hockey team grow in popularity and skill.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I want to continue with school sport as much as possible and to keep encouraging younger girls through coaching trampolining. I intend to continue hockey at university and maybe explore new sports.

Netball, hockey and rounders.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Sports Scholar?

The chance to watch the girls I coach develop in confidence and skill over the years. Their passion and excitement inspires me and reminds me why I love sports so much.

How do you intend to develop your sport aspirations?

I plan to keep playing sports at the highest level possible and inspire girls to keep playing at their best through all their years at school.
