Portsmouth High School welcomes international pupils and employs an International Welfare Officer who looks after students when they arrive at the school.
Entry for international students is discussed on a case by case basis. Enquiries are accepted at any time throughout the year although candidates are advised to consider the length of time it will take to gain a visa and make travel arrangements.
A number of our international students are placed through an agency which offers a complete service providing students with all the information they need about Portsmouth High School, as well as arranging a local host family who will provide a room and board and help pupils settle in to UK life.
The school has a reputation for outstanding pastoral care and employs an International Welfare Officer who sees to the needs of students and arranges culture visits and opportunities for them to socialise outside of their host families. Form Tutors, Heads of Year, the School Welfare Officer and the Deputy Head or Head of Sixth Form jointly oversee the well-being of all our pupils.

“I have always been interested in science and Portsmouth High School has provided me with a great opportunity to study the science subjects. We get a lot of practical work rather than just working in an exam-orientated education system.”
