Last week, I had the privilege of attending a GDST Prep and Junior Heads conference at Northwood College in London. The theme, Changemakers, sparked powerful conversations about leadership, resilience, and the impact of education.
Two standout speakers left a lasting impression. The first was the founder of Just One Tree, a GDST alumna who transitioned from producing television adverts to launching a global sustainability charity. Her story was a testament to how creativity and conviction can reshape the world.
Equally moving was Floyd Steadman, the first black scrum half to play for a major UK rugby team, Saracens. His journey, from growing up in care and facing racism, to excelling in sport and becoming Head of four Prep Schools, was a powerful reminder of how education can transform lives.
These changemakers exemplify courage, vision, and the power of purpose. But they are not alone. At Portsmouth High Prep, we are surrounded by inspirational figures, our parents, grandparents, and dedicated staff, who quietly shape the future every day.
Together, we are nurturing the next generation of changemakers. Children who will lead with compassion, innovate with confidence, and make a difference in their communities and beyond.
