We were delighted to welcome Mrs Heather Trim back to Portsmouth High Prep School to interview a group of pupils from Year 3 to Year 6.
Mrs Trim, one of our dedicated governors, is well known to many in our community having served the school over several decades in roles including Deputy Head. Since her retirement she has joined the school’s governing body. Her deep connection to the school made the visit particularly special.
Our pupils rose to the occasion with confidence and enthusiasm. Mrs Trim was thoroughly impressed by the way the girls spoke; articulately, thoughtfully, and with genuine pride in their school. They shared openly how strongly they feel that their voices matter here at the Prep. When they raise sensible ideas or requests, they see real action and feel empowered to contribute to school life.
The girls also commented on the supportive nature of the staff, describing the clarity and kindness with which their teachers help them improve. It was heartening to hear them express how safe they feel at school, knowing that there are many trusted adults they can turn to whenever they need help or reassurance.
When asked about online safety, they confidently explained how they would respond to different scenarios, showing a mature understanding of how to stay safe and make responsible choices. The girls spoke warmly about their love for our beautiful site, especially the gardens and play areas that give them space to explore, imagine, and enjoy being children.
We are incredibly proud of the way they represented the school and grateful to Mrs Trim for her continued commitment and interest in our pupils’ experience.
