Offering the very best of educational practice

At Portsmouth High Prep School, we are always looking for meaningful ways to enrich our curriculum while holding fast to the approaches that we know help our pupils thrive.

Innovation for us is never about change for its own sake; it is about thoughtful evolution, building on strong foundations to ensure our teaching remains dynamic, relevant and engaging.

In recent weeks, pupils in the older years have been embracing an exciting new avenue of learning through 3D design. They have been exploring how digital models translate into physical creations with our 3D printer, giving them a tangible sense of how technology and creativity come together. Seeing their ideas move from screen to real‑world object has sparked problem‑solving, collaboration and genuine curiosity, exactly the kind of learning we want to inspire.

At the same time, the new phonics programme introduced at the start of the year is already proving highly effective. The structured, systematic approach is giving our younger pupils increased confidence and fluency, and teachers are delighted with the early progress they are seeing.

As always, our aim is simple: to offer the very best of educational practice while embracing the tools and opportunities that prepare our children for the future.
