There were emotional scenes of a joyful homecoming in the senior school car park yesterday afternoon as pupils and staff returned from the trip of a life time to China.
The girls have just spent 16 days being part of a summer camp at a school in Changzhou in eastern China. After arrival from the UK in Beijing, they travelled to the school and took part in the summer camp opening ceremony with other pupils from around the world. Throughout their stay they took part in a host of different activities including lessons,
cookery, calligraphy, music and model making to help get a real taste of school life in China. They also went on some amazing trips to explore and understand the Chinese culture.
Trip leader and Head of Languages Susie Humphreys said “We have just spent a wonderful 16 days in China and the girls have really absorbed the Chinese culture and had so many new experiences. Highlights of the trip included sightseeing to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall and meeting and getting to know so many new people taking part in the summer camp. It was an experience we will treasure for many years to come’.
