Portsmouth High Nursery School pupils performed in front of the whole Junior School in celebration assembly. Each class at the Junior School takes it in turn to lead the weekly assembly and Nursery are no exception.
Pupils have been busy in class exploring the story of The Little Red Hen and have shared in her frustration at the lack of help from her friends with baking her loaf of bread. The story has been used as a basis for the phonics and mathematics programme over the last few weeks which all the children have enjoyed.
In assembly the children acted and sang to share what happens in the story, assisted by teachers Mrs Dempster and Mrs Shaw. Year 6 Pre-Prep prefects Lucy and Matilda, who assist in Nursery on a regular basis, were also present to help with the performance.
Mrs Dempster said “The children did so well in assembly this morning. Remembering what they have to say in the correct order and then performing in front of the whole school is such a valuable experience at this young age. It all helps build their confidence for when they move up the school so they are ready for new challenges”.
