Nursery Rhymes come to life for Pre-School

This term Pre-School has been immersed in the world of nursery rhymes giving many opportunities to support their learning.

The school’s spacious grounds, and especially the Dell, have provided an exciting place to bring their nursery rhyme topic to life.  The children made lots of suggestions about why Humpty Dumpty might have fallen off the wall. They broke an egg and then discovered that it was impossible to mend. No wonder all the King’s horses and men couldn’t put Humpty together again…

The girls have searched for mini beasts, learning Ladybird Ladybird Fly Away Home and singing Incy Wincy Spider, who climbed up the water spout until the rain came down and washed him out. They have become weather watchers, keeping a daily weather chart in the Pre-School classroom and noticing when the sun and rain appear.  Five Little Ducks has been a favourite song which has helped with counting and subtracting.

The Pre-School children are all becoming independent learners, motivated to try the variety of exciting activities in the classroom which are all easily accessible and designed to cover all the areas of learning.
