Portsmouth High School’s Year 8 took a day off timetable to complete a mathematics, science and design technology challenge led by Head of Design and Technology, Mr Graeme Field.
‘The girls completed some excellent design work to illustrate how a rapid transport system would benefit the City of Portsmouth,’ he said. ‘Each team decided on who would be undertaking the team roles that included Transport Planner, Transport System Engineer, Marketing Manager and Finance Manager. They developed a plan for the route, rolling stock and marketing materials and showed their fresh and innovative thinking in a short presentation during the afternoon.’
Team 7, (Solent Travel) comprising of Ella Jones, Isabelle Gabriel, Tina Wang and Emma Smithin were the winning team with their presentation which included balance and weight of the chassis, profit and timetabling of the railway together with excellent accompanying material.
