Reception Class have been continuing their explorer theme by becoming scientists and investigating water and ice.
They studied how objects that sink in fresh water were able to float in salt water and then observed how salt sped up the melting process. The girls made fantastic observations and were able to link their learning with their environment by explaining why roads are gritted in winter.
In mathematics the girls have been looking at patterns. They took their learning outside and, despite the wind making it difficult for the girl’s patterns to stay in one place, with helping hands from friends they made some beautiful nature patterns.
In literacy the girls gained inspiration from short film clips to write and describe winter scenes. The class have come up with some amazing vocabulary and sentences and it is lovely to see all the progress they have made with both sounding out words for spelling and handwriting.
