We are delighted to announce that Portsmouth High School has been shortlisted for the Prep School of the Year award in the prestigious Tes Independent School Awards 2021.
Tes editor Jon Severs said:
‘After a difficult year for all schools, it is an honour to celebrate the Tes Independent School awards, not only to celebrate excellent practice but to ensure that practice is shared far and wide.
‘We received an unparalleled number of entries this year, which is testament to the great work all have done during the pandemic. The schools that have been shortlisted should be proud – it’s a remarkable achievement.’
Paul Marshallsay, Headmaster of the Prep School, said:
‘We are delighted that we have been shortlisted for this award and this is testament to all the hard work of the teaching and support staff during a tumultuous year. This is a wonderful way to be recognised for that dedication and commitment to our parents and pupils.’
Headmistress, Mrs Jane Prescott, added:
‘As the Covid-19 pandemic hit and schools were forced to close the emphasis turned to protecting the mental health and wellbeing of our school community. We immediately offered key worker and vulnerable children care, not only to our own pupils but to others in the community too. Every member of staff, with no exceptions, committed to the care and education of the children and offering the best provision through live, online teaching and learning. Staff continued to volunteer through the entire Easter and May breaks so that our provision for key worker children in school did not stop. Holiday clubs for children continued throughout 2020 for all children in our Prep School and beyond.’
For the very first time, Tes Independent School Awards winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Friday 30 April 2021.
