Year 2 entered the Poetry Bus creative writing competition this term and were delighted to have 13 winning entries out of 8000 nationwide.
The girls’ poems will be published in an anthology and we are very much looking forward to seeing their work in print. The theme was ‘Autumn Senses’ and the girls chose to write poems based around all the wonderful sights, sounds and smells that they experience every day in our beautiful grounds.
Olivia in Year 2 said “I liked touching the spiky and fresh conkers in the gardens.”
Year 2 teacher Mrs Parrott said “It is wonderful to have such beautiful grounds just outside our classroom door. The girls enjoyed seeing the colourful leaves in the Dell. We came back to the classroom and painted some beautiful autumn scenes and the whole experience gave us some great ideas for our poetry writing. It will be lovely to see the girls’ work published.”
