Our Pre-School is split into two groups to give children the best experience possible. The Nursery Class is for the younger children, joining in the term of their third birthday. Our Pre-School is for older children preparing for Reception. With two classrooms full of exciting activities, we make sure every child is learning at their own pace, in a way that’s right for them.

At our Nursery and Pre-School, your children will learn through play. With a qualified teacher to enhance academic learning, the girls will investigate new concepts in a fun way, promoting independence, curiosity, creativity, and problem solving. Indoor and outdoor activities give girls multi-sensory first-hand experiences that make learning fun and exciting. In addition to this, the girls enjoy weekly specialist teaching for music, ballet, Outdoor learning and French classes, alongside a library session.

Portsmouth High Pre-School is a registered provider of free childcare for working parents which provides your daughter with up to 30 hours of free education a week.
Funding is available from your child’s third birthday and lasts up until the end of the term of her fifth birthday.

Our Nursery and Pre-School are open throughout the school term from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm. Morning sessions run from 8.30 am to 11.30 am and afternoons from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm.

Portsmouth High Prep School offers a comprehensive programme of free wraparound care for children attending full-time. Girls can join our Early Birds’ Breakfast Club from 7.30am to 8.30am and our Aftercare Club from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. For children attending part-time, wraparound care is charged at very reasonable rates.

A structured programme of care is offered through our external provider, CSS Activities, who run a holiday club at Portsmouth High Prep School during every school holiday.

There is no registration fee but there is a deposit of £60 which is refundable when your child leaves the school.

Children can start during the term of their third birthday. There are three terms during the school year starting in September. The autumn term runs from September and finishes at Christmas, the spring term runs from January until Easter and the summer term starts after Easter and ends in mid-July.
