Early Years’ Teaching Staff

Portsmouth High Pre-School in Southsea is staffed by an experienced Early Years’ team dedicated to promoting creativity and curiosity in enquiring young minds.

The Early Years’ team are experienced in all aspects of early education and are passionate about developing each individual child.

Mrs Victoria Fabre De La Grange
Victoria is Head of Pre-Prep and Reception Class teacher at Portsmouth High School and has many years of experience within the Early Years setting.

Mrs Fabre De La Grange says ‘Reception is the start of the school learning journey for pupils. It is a time of endless opportunities and untapped potential. I am privileged to have the opportunity to encourage in our pupils a growing resilience and independence, curiosity and a passion for lifelong learning’.

Mrs Abi Nelson
Pre-School teacher Mrs Abi Nelson has taught young children in the local area for almost 25 years. She is passionate about offering every child in Pre-School the best possible start to their school life. Mrs Nelson has four daughters of her own, the youngest is a current Portsmouth High School pupil.

Mrs Clare Cane
Pre-School teacher Mrs Clare Cane started her career as a primary school teacher and specialised in Early Years, taking an extra qualification to acquire Early Years Teacher Status. She has worked in a wide variety of settings in both the public and private sector, and is passionate about the importance of high quality Early Years education to give our youngest children the best start in life.

Mrs Jackie Shaw
Pre-School practitioner Mrs Jackie Shaw has extensive experience of delivering excellence within an early years setting. Educated to degree level in Early Years Care and Education, she has built a new nursery from scratch and also worked to achieve an outstanding inspection assessment in a well-established independent school.

Mrs Johanne Brown
Teaching assistant Mrs Johanne Brown specialises in early years support enabling children to develop and reach their full potential.

Together, the Pre-School team are delivering a strong programme to promote learning, both in academic and social skills to promote a secure foundation for girls as they progress through the school.
