MEET OUR GIRLS

Find out more about our Prep School from the girls that go there...

Girl in a yellow T-shirt standing in a tree

Nirvair

I joined Portsmouth High School in Year 5 and travel into school every day on the school minibus.

My favourite subjects are science and maths. I like the different opportunities; I got to extract my own DNA at one of the GDST science events this year – it was an incredible day. I also really enjoy conducting different experiments. I have really liked learning the different methods in maths – particularly the four operations. I think I’ve done well with my fractions.

I would love to be a dancer when I grow up, or maybe a doctor so science and maths are quite important to help understand the different angles and the human body.

The best thing I like about our school is the different sports and curriculum activities we get to do especially matches against other schools. I only joined the prep school at the beginning of Year 5 and I am finishing it by receiving an award at awards evening for drama – I’m really proud of myself for that.

Girl with red curly hair up in a tree

Freya

I joined Portsmouth High School in the middle of Year 1.

I like how the lessons are taught, sports day, the Year 3 and 4 play. I really enjoyed the Year 3 residential to Avon Tyrrell because we worked together in our activities, and I loved spending time with my friends.

I come into school everyday on the school minibus.

I like PE because we have matches. I like RE as I like learning about different religions. I like English as I love reading and writing stories.

In the future I would like to go to university and be a teacher for small children. I like playing with and helping Reception class.

I do a lot of swimming. I am a member of Fareham Nomads swimming club. I love cookery which I do in school as an after-school club. We made picnic boxes with carrots and humous, cucumber and ham rolls, and bananas dipped in chocolate with sprinkles. It was delicious.

Girl playing the piano

Isis

I joined in Year 2 and have loved every moment since.

The teachers are amazing and make learning fun. My favourite subjects are English and maths, and I’ve developed a passion for cricket. My dream is to become a gymnast or a fiction writer, creating characters for storybooks.

Girl in a blue T-shirt hanging from a tree

Alazne

I joined Portsmouth High in the Pre-School.

The best thing I like about the school is the books because I love reading.

My favourite subject is maths because I like adding up and numbers.

When I grow up I want to be an animal rescuer. Outside of school I love climbing at Red Spider.

Girl playing the piano

Zoe

I joined Portsmouth High in the Pre-School.

My favourite things about the school are the lunches and the residential trips. The Year 4 trip to Hooke Court was fun because I really enjoyed going in the roundhouse at night and then going outside to see the stars.

I have performed in most of the school music concerts and I play the flute in the orchestra and also play the piano.

My favourite subjects are history because I like learning about what happened in the past. I also likes maths because I enjoy creating graphs to show what I have found. When I grow up I want to be a scientist and study medicine.

In cookery lessons we have learned how to make pizza which I really enjoyed. Outside of school I have ballet and tennis lessons.
