Portsmouth High School is not just a school, it’s like one big family.
I joined Portsmouth High School in Year 5 when I was 9 years old. I was really looking forward to the independence and the opportunities that lie ahead. I was also looking forward to playing a variety of different sports and played in all the sports teams at the Prep School.
Moving into Year 7 seemed daunting and knowing that I would be one of the youngest ones at the Senior School scared me even more. Luckily I had my mentor and Mrs Davies, the Head of Year 7. It really helped having my mentor to learn about the school from her perspective and having Mrs Davies to answer any questions.
When I moved into Year 8 I applied for a sports scholarship as I am passionate about sport. I heard the amazing news that I had been successful and so far this has been one of my highlights and I feel so proud to represent my school. There are so many sporting opportunities at Portsmouth High School which I am very grateful for.
Portsmouth High School is not just a school, it’s like one big family. The environment we work in is amazing, as are the opportunities we get. The school is part of the GDST so we get to travel around the country for lots of sporting events.
I know I have some hard work ahead as I move into my GCSE years, and then the Sixth Form, but I am already looking forward to grasping opportunities open to the older girls. I would definitely recommend Portsmouth High School to everyone. Without the school I would not be the person I am today. Portsmouth High School is such a fun and supportive family school and I love it here.
