SPORTS

The sport curriculum across the school is broad and balanced encouraging participation at all levels of expertise.

Our sports curriculum is broad and balanced, encouraging participation from everyone, at all levels. And there is a wide choice of co-curricular sports for those who want to try something new.

A COMPETITIVE SPIRIT

As part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, we take part in a number of GDST tournaments, competing with our sister schools across the country. Gymnastics, cross-country, netball, hockey, football, tennis, rounders, swimming and cricket are just some of the competitions our girls take part in – within the GDST network and more widely in national schools’ competitions, local leagues and against other schools in the Hampshire area.

OUTSTANDING FACILITIES

Our sporting facilities are superb, with a fully-equipped Sport England standard sports hall and climbing wall. We have our own all-weather multi-use sports pitch and netball/tennis courts.

We make regular use of the University of Portsmouth sports halls, squash courts and swimming pool. The synthetic turf pitch and athletics track at HMS Temeraire are also used for lessons and training sessions. We also use the fitness suite and gym equipment at BH Live. Southsea Tennis courts, Portsmouth Cricket Club and the Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Centre are in close proximity to the school enabling us to make regular use of their excellent facilities.

SPORTS TOURS

Sports tours are a regular highlight of our sporting calendar, offering girls the challenge of playing in a different culture and climate, against new and talented players. The latest cricket and netball tour saw a squad set off for Dubai for a once in a lifetime experience. All returned freshly invigorated and passionate about their sport.
