A levels – Geography, History, Mathematics, EPQ
I joined PHS in Year 9 and settled in here far more easily than I expected to.
I had never been to an independent school before, and I was only really friends with boys, and so coming here was a big step outside my comfort zone. Despite this, I felt at home here really quickly, and I think that this is a testament to the welcoming and inclusive environment created by both staff and pupils at PHS.
My favourite thing about Sixth Form life is the freedom we have to engage in the subjects we are particularly interested in above and beyond the scope of the A Level curriculum. For example, I have been able to explore my love for History by running the History Society, entering essay competitions and by researching my EPQ on the Causes of the English Civil War. The teachers do all they can to facilitate this exploration by always being happy to discuss topics you are personally interested in and point you in the direction of good books to read to further your understanding.
The co-curricular opportunities at Sixth Form are also great. I am in the Hockey, Tennis and Rounders teams, played Lefou in our production of Beauty and the Beast and am completing Gold Duke of Edinburgh, all of which have increased my confidence outside the classroom.
Juggling my responsibilities as an academic scholar, sport scholar and as Head Girl has also significantly improved my time management and organisational skills, which will be very useful at university and in later life.
