Chloe – Head Girl
I joined the school in the November of Year 7 and am currently studying A Levels in mathematics, chemistry and geography in the Sixth Form at Portsmouth High School.
I want to study geography at university and I’m particularly interested in physical geography. I’m not exactly sure what I want to do from there but I know I want to do something that involves travel.
I love the variety of lunchtime clubs that you can do at Portsmouth High and have participated in many over the years. Highlights for me have been ceramics, athletics and football club which I’ve carried on taking part in as a sixth former.
I am a keen netball player both inside and outside of school and have helped coach some of the younger year groups. This year I was selected to play for the Girls’ Day School Trust select VII team and played matches against Leeds Athletics and Leeds Rhinos. During Years 10 and 11 I was selected to be part of the Surrey Storm U17 squad and was picked to be in the team for the NPFL national tournament in Nottingham for both years. Current A Level course commitments mean I just didn’t have time to trial for the Surrey Storm squad this year. As well as the competitive side of netball I like that it has allowed me to meet so many different people as well as travel over England and further afield. I’m really looking forward to the netball tour to Barbados in October with the school.
I love that Portsmouth High School has such a friendly vibe. Ever since I’ve arrived I’ve always felt so welcome and comfortable around the girls and staff. This has given me the confidence to take any opportunity allowing me to do things I’d be too shy to do in a different environment. I think taking part in house plays and performing in a musical ensemble during a talent show, despite feeling I lack real talent in these fields, are good examples of how comfortable I feel at PHS.
