Anisa – Deputy Head Girl
I joined Portsmouth High School in Year 7 and am now taking chemistry, religious studies and Latin A Level and an EPQ with the intention of studying law at university.
My current eventual career goal is to become a barrister as I very much enjoy advocacy. The school has definitely augmented my confidence by entering us into various debating competitions and has trained us into better public speakers.
As a Drama Scholar and Sports Ambassador, I take part in many of the co-curricular events at the school. My favourite memories at PHS so far would be performing in a comical version of Romeo and Juliet and somehow surviving the expedition for my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. Partaking in Gold this year, I am looking forward to spending time with friends and getting lost again.
I am also part of the student-led Amnesty Club, the well-being ambassador team and the Diversity and Inclusion working party at Portsmouth High; for me, these opportunities are invaluable as we raise important issues, make a change and broaden and develop our mindsets. Thus, I am excited to be Deputy Head girl for pupil voice as I recognise how important student participation is within a school and the wider community.
Outside of Portsmouth High, I am a member of the European Youth Parliament and have volunteered at Riding for the Disabled Association. I am also a passionate fundraiser in my free time, promoting and assisting charities such as M.A.K.E, Ned’s fund and Breast Cancer Awareness. Taking part in the ration challenge and activities to help last year’s charity, The Elizabeth Foundation, I am now very excited to raise money for this year’s local charity in Charity Week.
I believe I have developed for the better since joining in Year 7 and owe much to the school. Thus, I am looking forward to giving back in any way I can and am excited to see what the next year holds.
