Exciting new Junior School classrooms appear over the Christmas break
The new year has brought some exciting developments at Portsmouth High Junior School. The investment into the junior school continues and the girls were thrilled to arrive back at school with a new building in the grounds.
It was remarkable that such a large project could be achieved over the Christmas break and I can confirm that the rooms on the interior are as impressive as the façade. These new learning spaces will enhance the school still further and I know that the staff can’t wait to begin teaching there. The first fix has been completed and the second fix is progressing at a similarly quick rate.
Our aim to be using the building by early February is looking like a reality. Year 3, 4 and 5 will be the main beneficiaries of the new facility as their class bases will be inside. Girls throughout the school will, however, be able to use the changing facilities that are included on the lower floor.
The improved physical route through the junior school will now be complete. The journey will start in our wonderful Pre-Prep up to Year 2 and take the short walk across to the new building until the end of Year 5. Year 6 then have the privilege of being based at the heart of the school in Dovercourt itself. It must not be forgotten that all of our girls make full use of the several subject specific spaces that we enjoy.
It is an exhilarating time to be at the school. I would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year.
