Welcome to the new academic year
A warm welcome to all pupils and I hope they have enjoyed, albeit quite briefly, being at school last week after the long break. They should be praised for their mature approach to the new normal and on how they have adapted so sensibly and quickly to the regulations around keeping safe.
In no particular order we also warmly welcome new staff: Mrs Sarah Parker as academic deputy head; Mrs Yvonne Peeke-Vout as PA to the Headmistress; Mrs Victoria Walker as teacher of mathematics; Ms Zara Le Peuple as school counsellor and Katherine Robinson, Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner.
We are pleased that Mrs Emma Michou and Mrs Christina McBeath return following their maternity leave. Mrs Caroline Robertson is teaching across the Prep School including after care following the retirement of Mrs Sue Parsons whom we shall miss enormously. We extend our congratulations to Miss Moffitt who was married this summer and wishes to be known as Mrs Moffitt.
Mrs Downham, who teaches English in the Senior School, is reverting to her maiden name of Ms Legg. A reminder of Heads of Year in the Senior School: Mrs Sammy Davies – Year 7; Mrs Karen Peters – Year 8; Mrs Emma Noble – Year 9; Miss Amy Davies – Year 10; Mrs Katie Wood – Year 11. Our graduate gap assistants are Miss Louisa Harris working with the sports department and Miss Ellie Jordan working with the Prep School. Mrs Joan West is to extend her role to include the marketing of Pre-Prep and Mrs Hannah Cells will have greater responsibility for SEND at the prep school.
We are advertising for an out of hours caretaker now Mr George Dunsford has graduated and we extend our congratulations to him. We sadly said goodbye to Ms Michelle Kays and we wish her and her family well for the future. In January we will be joined by Mrs Emer Cullen to be Head of the Faculty of English and Drama and in the Pre-School by Mrs Abi Nelson.
